Finding the Right Class

Thrive Yoga is dedicated to making yoga available to anyone who has the desire for enhanced awareness and well-being. We encourage an eclectic approach to yoga and urge students to sample different styles, levels, and teachers to find the most appropriate and inspiring class for themselves.

Enrollment Series

Enrollment classes at Thrive Yoga are session-based classes that require pre-registration and take place weekly within a specific time frame. A few enrollment series offer the possibility of drop-ins.

You've heard so much about yoga but you don't know exactly where to begin.  Thrive Yoga has created a simple and effective way to introduce you to the fundamentals of yoga.  Yoga Fundamentals for Beginners is an 8-week session and is perfect for you if you are new to yoga, need to learn the basics or haven't practiced in a while and want to make the transition back to a regular practice.  You will be guided through:

  • The fundamental postures (asanas) with attention to proper alignment
  • Breathing techniques (pranayama)
  • The different styles of yoga practice, which one is right for you
  • The fundamentals of meditation
  • An introduction into the philosophy of yoga

You also will learn the benefits of yoga (why does yoga work to de-stress?) and how to adapt yoga postures to your ability, needs and body type (ayurveda). 

Yoga Fundamentals for Beginners II 

Series will return in the Fall.

Yoga practice is an ongoing learning experience of self-awareness (it mirrors life itself!) Yoga Fundamentals for Beginners II is designed for students who seek to deepen their technical knowledge of posture alignment and to gain more experience practicing yoga in a highly instructional formatted class.  Yoga Fundamentals for Beginners II, is perfect for students who:

  • Have completed Yoga Fundamentals I OR
  • Have some yoga experience are rusty OR
  • Desire more time to get their feet wet in yoga OR
  • Enjoy practicing at the beginner level

Therapeutic Yoga with Michele Fry

4-week Session
Sundays, 12:30- 2:00 pm

Pre-registration required.  Class held to 15 students

Do you have previous injuries, back pain, chronically tight shoulders, or just want to learn how to keep your back, neck & shoulders healthy? In Therapeutic Yoga you will focus on alignment, biomechanics, core strengthening and flexibility.

This class will focus on:

  • Slow, mindful repetition of movement in order to discover and correct movement patterns and biomechanics that contribute to injury and discomfort
  • Re-awakening muscle groups that have been "turned off" from injury or improper biomechanics.
  • Strategic sequencing of movement and breath to open your body and calm your mind.
  • Neuromuscular re-education along with core principles from several styles of yoga, including Anusara, Viniyoga, Iyengar, Yin and Restorative.

(Note: participants should be able to move from floor to standing with ease. Students who have had recent surgery will be better served by a private consultation and assessment.)

Students may make up missed classes during their sessions in one of the other prenatal yoga classes.
Appropriate for any trimester with any level of experience in yoga, this class is designed to increase your energy and stamina while building strength, flexibility, and balance. Breath exercises and postures will help reduce fatigue and tension while improving circulation and keep you comfortable and feeling fit throughout your pregnancy. Special sequencing of postures, breath exercises and visualization are designed to aid you in labor.   Connect with other moms-to-be in a supportive and healthy environment!

Yoga for Baby & Me

10-week Session
Parent + Baby (0-11 months)
Series will return in the Fall.

Due to the originality of this session, we do not have Baby & Me make-up classes, but adults can drop-in solo to an adult yoga class to make up a missed class. 

Enjoy bonding with baby and other moms in Yoga for Baby & Me.  New moms, dads, or nannies will practice sequence sand baby partner yoga that effectively strengthen and stretch the total body with particular attention on the abdomen, pelvis & lower back, hips and shoulders.  Yoga breathing will give parents a boost of energy while calming the busy mind. Class will include infant massage and bonding through touch.

Classes are child-centered, which means that parents are welcome to breast/bottle feed, change, hold, or otherwise tend to their baby's needs as needed. 

 Please bring a baby blanket, a few non-electric/noisy toys, a stocked diaper bag, and a mat for the parent (or can be rented for $1).  Lotion or oil for baby's massage is recommended, but not required.  All yoga props will be provided.  Beginners are welcome!

Classes incorporate age appropriate yoga games that help kids to let loose while learning fun yoga asana (postures), breathing techniques that build focused attention, followed up by soothing meditation that leave kids relaxed and ready for their next activity. Build community with new friends, new moves, and tons of fun!   

Preteen/Teen Yoga 9-14yrs

Thursdays, 4:30 pm – 5:45 pm 
September 30– November 18 
Classes are a mix of yoga postures, breathing exercises, and meditation techniques that help manage life outside of yoga class. Join together with other teens to practice yoga in a fun energizing environment. The latest in music and movement are combined to make this class one expansive experience.  Have fun, get fit, and let go of the pressures of life.
