Event Details

Do you experience tightness, discomfort, or stuckness in your body that doesn’t seem to go away despite all your best efforts to stretch your muscles? It’s time for a new approach. In this gentle and fun practice we’ll work with myofascial lines throughout the whole body, using balls, props and your own touch.

What is fascia?Fascia is a magical web of connective tissue that weaves in and around our muscles, organs and bones. It affects everything – how we move, breathe, feel! Unhealthy fascia can get stiff, tight, and knotty. The cumulative effects of your posture and the repetitive motions of life and physical activity can result in tension, achiness, and restriction that may not be improved by simply stretching your muscles.
In this workshop you will…

  • Receive a brief introduction to the fascia and its functions within the body
  • Learn how fascia affects your range of motion and feelings of overall well-being
  • Learn simple self-massage techniques that target the trigger points of pain and common areas of tightness to promote a greater sense of ease
  • Experience rolling and free, organic movement on our props, that work towards healthier, juicier fascia

When done regularly, working with fascia can…

  • Improve your range of motion, generating more glide and adaptability
  • Reduce soreness
  • Facilitate deep tissue release
  • Release tension, knots and stress
  • Improve circulation and tissue hydration
  • Restore tissue pliability and resilience
  • Support free-breathing and healthy respiratory bio-mechanics
  • Help stimulate your body’s own natural healing and repair processes to aid in muscle recovery and efficient muscle function

This is perfect for anyone who wants to improve range of motion, suffers from tight or sore muscles or feels restrictive breathing. You can expect to leave this workshop with improved awareness and insight about your body and its very specific needs. You’ll learn effective techniques and develop a simple routine that you can do at home in just a few minutes per day to help ease tightness and discomfort.

The studio will provide: chairs, bolsters, blankets, two tennis balls and one 9” squishy ball.*In addition to your mat, please bring a sock to hold the two tennis balls. Feel free to bring any of your own props from the above list.
