HISTORIC MAKAWAO AND KAHAKAPAO LOOP TRAIL HIKE
A charming historic town known for its unique blend of Hawaiian and paniolo (Hawaiian cowboy) culture. Situated on the slopes of Haleakalā, Makawao was historically a hub for the island’s cattle industry. Today, it’s a vibrant community celebrated for its art galleries, boutiques, and local cuisine. The Kahakapao Loop is a moderately difficult 5.8 mile hike popular for birding.
PA’IA AND BALDWIN BEACH STATE PARK
A quaint and vibrant town known for its bohemian atmosphere and beautiful beaches. Originally a plantation town, Paia has transformed into a lively community with a mix of eclectic shops, art galleries, and diverse dining options. Pa’ia is also the gateway to some of Maui’s most stunning beaches. Baldwin Beach is a wonderful, long, wide, sandy beach park just outside of Pa’ia. Fully equipped with lifeguards, bathrooms, showers and a covered pavilion. Protected swimming areas that offer calm pools are available at Baby Beach and the east as Baldwin Cove.
HALEAKALA NATIONAL PARK
A breathtaking natural wonder renowned for its diverse landscapes and striking vistas. The park encompasses the massive Haleakalā Crater, a dormant volcano that rises over 10,000 feet above sea level, offering visitors spectacular sunrise and sunset views. The summit area features a stark, otherworldly terrain with cinder cones, lava rocks, and native plant species like the rare silversword.
